The Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, in Colombia, is one of those places. It is not just landscape. It is an invitation to remember who you truly are.
A Calling That Resonated in 15 Hearts
In May 2025, something extraordinary happened. Fifteen souls from four different countries—Colombia, Mexico, the United States, and England—heard the same calling. A silent invitation from the sacred mountains and their ancient guardians. A calling we could not ignore.
Seykun: Where the land came back to life. Days 1–3
We traveled unpaved roads that wind their way through mountains until we reached Seykun. A small community of 570 indigenous people. This Arhuaco community has recovered approximately 5,000 hectares of land that was stolen and deforested centuries ago, and has returned 70% of it to nature. Native species of flora and fauna have returned. The ecosystem has regenerated. It breathes again.
With the recovery of these lands, Sacred Sites have been reactivated, places that are fundamental for the mamos (spiritual leaders) to perform ceremonies that maintain the balance of our planet.
Here we walked through mountains that whisper ancestral wisdom. We cleansed ourselves in crystal-clear rivers. We participated in harmonizing ceremonies in sacred sites. We listened to Arhuaco women explain the meaning of every thread, every pattern, every color in their ancestral mochilas. And we were touched by the genuine smiles and eyes full of life of the Arhuaco children.
Nabusimake: The place where the sun is born Days 4–6
After a journey through increasingly higher mountains and landscapes that take your breath away, we arrived at Nabusimake, which in the Arhuaco language means “the place where the sun is born.” The cultural and spiritual capital of the Arhuaco people. A valley embraced by mountains, where time is measured in heartbeats, not minutes.
For the next 3 days, we lived in a state of consciousness and connection that we rarely experience in our modern lives.
Every ceremony with the mamos was a window into understanding, a liberation. Every organic meal, harvested from local gardens, nourished both body and soul. In every integration circle, vulnerability transformed into connection. Silence and contemplation became clarity.
